Challenges and Opportunities – A Business Networking Dinner

At the end of February our President & CEO, Anthony Decoste, attended a business networking dinner with the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to the Philippines, Richard Graham MP. The event was held at the beautiful Makati Diamond Residences in the Central Business District in Makati City and was co-organized by the British Chamber of Commerce, The Makati Business Club, the British Embassy Manila, and the Philippine-British Business Council.
There were some excellent, thought-provoking speakers throughout the well-attended evening. Richard Graham addressed concerns about Brexit and the implications it may have particularly around trade and reiterated the UK’s commitment to strengthening its bilateral trade relations with the Philippines. This was welcome news for us at Global Virtuoso as we look to expand our knowledge process outsourcing services, including aviation, healthcare and accounting services, into the UK market throughout 2019.
Another important issue that Richard focused on was the need for businesses to remain adaptive to the ever-changing global environment, ensuring that they are able to respond quickly to uncertainty while continuing to move forward. This is something we very much embrace at Global Virtuoso. Our operating model enables our clients to make quick decisions and grow much more rapidly and cost-effectively than if they were looking to expand and recruit locally.
One of the key areas that Richard touched on during his speech was that the UK is particularly committed to investing in the areas of education and technology in the Philippines, both of which are essential to the success of Global Virtuoso since we depend on a highly skilled and well educated workforce to be able to provide IT-enabled services to our clients worldwide.
It was also great to have the possibility to speak personally with Richard about Global Virtuoso’s expansion in the UK and about the highly technical, custom outsourcing services that we can provide to British firms from our base in Manila. I’d like to thank Richard for his time on the evening and for the interest that he showed in our business.
